Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice explains how Enzokhule Enterprises ("we", "us") collects and uses personal data when you use My BookWorm (the "Service"). We are the data controller for the information described below.

1. Information we collect

  • Account data: name, email address, hashed password, display name.
  • Reading data: books, notes, highlights, reviews, wishlist items, reading sessions, PDFs you upload.
  • Support data: messages you send to us.
  • Usage and device data: IP address, browser, device type, pages visited, basic telemetry for security and performance.

2. How we use your data

  • To create and operate your account (legal basis: contract performance).
  • To provide the Service — store your books, sync across devices, render PDFs (contract performance).
  • To prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents (legitimate interests).
  • To improve the Service and fix bugs (legitimate interests).
  • To respond to your support requests (contract performance / legitimate interests).
  • To send service emails such as billing receipts and important account notices (contract performance / legal obligation).

3. Who we share data with

  • Service providers: hosting, database, and authentication providers used to run the Service.
  • Paddle: our Merchant of Record for sale of the Service. Paddle handles checkout, subscription management, payments, tax compliance, and invoicing. See Paddle's privacy policy.
  • Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where required.
  • Authorities where we are legally obliged to share data.

We do not sell your personal data.

4. Retention

We retain account and reading data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. To exercise these rights, email us at support@bookhaven.com. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

6. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries outside your own (including by our service providers and Paddle). Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.

7. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and isolated per-user data storage. No system is 100% secure, but we work to keep yours safe.

8. Cookies

The Service uses essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. The Paddle checkout may set its own cookies as described in their privacy policy.
